Siren Song : Original Art
This painting was inspired by an environmental climate change exhibition that the artist attended at the Natural History Museum in London. Dried coral features prominently throughout the piece alongside a statue-like figure. This piece shows the connection between humans and the natural world, the figure turns to stone as the coral dries.
Thick abstract mark making creates unease as structured lines become swirls of chaos. Foundations seem fragile and once vibrant colours drain to cool greys and whites.
The figure stares with unseeing eyes out at the viewer, creating tension which makes the viewer reflect on their part in looking after the natural world.
